When a custom website makes sense
Maybe visitors cannot find the right information. Maybe the site needs to do a daily job that a template cannot handle. Start with that problem, rather than a list of effects or pages.
If a straightforward template already meets the need, it may be the better purchase. Custom work is worth discussing when the content, visitor journey, or business workflow needs a different shape.

A website can be part of a larger product
The radio project pairs a listening app with a small station site. Listeners need the stream and show clock; station staff need to see what is on air and what is sold beside it. The site has a purpose beyond being a brochure.
If your website is really an internal inventory or operations tool, the business-software service is a better starting point. The device does not determine the scope; the job does.
